How to Vet a Garage Door Company in Louisiana

A few quick checks protect you from the common problems in the garage door business. Do them for any company you hire, including any company we connect you with.

The checks

1. LSLBC search. Louisiana contractors are licensed or registered through the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Search the company at lslbc.louisiana.gov and check that the name matches your estimate.
2. Insurance. Ask for proof of general liability insurance. Garage doors are heavy, spring-loaded systems.
3. Written quote. Get a written price that names the parts, for example spring size and cycle rating, before work starts.

Red flags

• A phone price that changes sharply on arrival.
• Pressure to replace the whole door or opener when the problem is a spring or a sensor.
• Vague answers about the parts being installed.
